Reclaim and Recycle

Wood is the material of choice for sustainable and environmentally friendly construction.

Wood waste and reclaimable fractions are still under-valued. Wood Products Extension at NCSU has started the development of a new program to promote a better understanding of the reuse of wood. From a sustainable utilization point of view, wood is typically used in a one-time fashion. Currently, most of wood waste is either landfilled or directly converted to energy. We have decided to make a difference and educate all entities along the chain of production and consumption about opportunities to successfully reclaim and recycle wood.

There are numerous uses for wood waste. Many of these products and the types of wood waste resources they require can be found in our Wood Waste Product Database.
