GA Prescribed Fire Council Annual Meeting 2013

The Georgia Prescribed Fire Council is pleased to announce its annual meeting, which is scheduled for Thursday, September 26, 2013, at the Tifton Campus Conference Center in Tifton, GA. Please visit www.garxfire.com/events.htm  to download the agenda, directions, and registration form.

Please take time to pre-register your attendance so that we can make arrangements for seating and the catered meal. To reserve your place, we ask that you remit payment with the enclosed registration form and return to us by September 12, 2013.

The GPFC wants to recognize the supporters of this event (please see listed on agenda).  Without their generous donations offsetting much of the cost, we could not offer this program to you in support of your use of prescribed fire.

I believe you will find this year’s agenda contains informative speakers and discussion topics that bring invaluable resources to Georgia prescribed fire practitioners. We will have the opportunity to hear about issues relating to prescribed fire consequences for air quality, wildlife, public safety and more. Join me and other prescribed fire practitioners for a day of good fire conversation. We need to be prepared for active engagement at all levels from public policy input to on the ground practice and management.

As land managers and prescribed fire practitioners, we will continue to be held to a higher standard than ever before. We need to educate ourselves, our neighbors, our elected officials and the general public about the positive benefits of the use of fire. Remember and use our message: “Prescribed Fire is a safe way to apply a natural process, ensure ecosystem health and reduce the risk of wildfires.”

The staff of the Georgia Prescribed Fire Council has created this interesting and important program for everyone who uses prescribed fire. If you are a landowner, have timber or wildlife interest or understand the need for the continued use of prescribed fire in Georgia, we encourage you to attend and look forward to seeing you on September 26th in Tifton.
