Prescribed Fire Field Days
In conjunction with multiple partners, the SERPPAS Prescribed Fire Work Group has gained support from NRCS to conduct several “Introduction to Prescribed Burning Field Days” in Mississippi, Alabama, and North Carolina.
The workshops are open to landowners, consultants, and anyone interested in learning the basics of prescribed fire and how prescribed fire can be used to meet multiple land management objectives.

NORTH CAROLINA

North Carolina State University Extension Forestry, North Carolina Forest Service, North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, North Carolina Prescribed Fire Council, Southeast Regional Partnership for Planning and Sustainability (SERPPAS), Natural Resources Conservation Service, National Wild Turkey Federation, Southern Fire Exchange and others have partnered to provide a one-day prescribed fire workshop. Time: 9am-4pm
Location: Jones Lake State Park, NC (4117 NC Hwy 242 Elizabethtown, NC)
Who should attend? The workshop is open to landowners, consultants, and others interested in learning how prescribed fire can be used to meet multiple land management objectives.
Topics: Participants will learn about the benefits of burning, where to get assistance, economics, burning techniques, writing a burn plan, and will tour a local forest stand at Bladen Lakes State Forest. A prescribed burn will be conducted if weather permits. View the draft Agenda here.
Cost: $10 includes registration fees, catered lunch, handouts, and transportation to/from field site

Topics: Participants will learn about the benefits of burning, where to get assistance, when to burn, writing a burn plan, and will tour a local TREASURE Forest landowner’s stand. A DRAFT Agenda can be seen here.
