In May 2011, NC State University will host the 28th Annual Midcontinent Paleobotanical Colloquium (MPC28).

Registration begins the afternoon of May 20 followed by a program that includes presentations, research posters and a banquet on the 21st and a field trip on the 22nd to the Triassic Basin near Sanford NC to collect fossils.

This year’s featured speaker is Scott Wing, research scientist and curator at the Smithsonian’s Museum of Natural History.  Wing will talk about the spectacularly preserved late Campian flora at Big Cedar Ridge, Wyoming – a Plant Pompeii.

The meeting will be held in the College of Natural Resources Complex at NC State University in Raleigh, NC and is made possible through support from the Departments of Forest Biomaterials and Plant Biology at NC State and the Department of Biology at UNC-Chapel Hill.

More information is available on the MPC28 website.
