NC Landowner Workshop: Prescribed Fire in Your Forest?

July 20, 2013 9:00AM to 1:00PM

Montgomery Community College

1011 Page Street Troy, NC

Could prescribed fire be used in your forest?

What forest type would benefit from prescribed fire?

How and when should it be applied?

Fire in the forest can be a scary thought, particularly if it is unplanned or if it occurs at the wrong time. This field trip will look at different forest types that have and have not been burned.  Some have not been burned in decades, others have been burned once, and still others have been burned multiple times in different seasons. See the results and discuss how fire relates to your forest.

Meet in the main parking lot at Montgomery Community College and car pool to field trip site.  This will be an easy walk in the woods at one location without any classroom time. Just bring sturdy shoes, long pants, and an interest in prescribed fire. Field trip will be limited to 25 participants.  Date will be rescheduled in case of rain.
