Successful 60th Anniversary Celebration
The Pulp and Paper Foundation started the school year off with a bang by hosting our largest annual meeting event ever just three short weeks after classes started. This three day event included our 5th Annual Paper Industry Career Fair with a record high 20 companies attending; our foundation board and committee meetings; a women in paper science luncheon and panel; a general session where alumni and friends shared their career paths and experiences with our students; our scholarship and donor recognition banquet; a TAPPI fundraising golf tournament; tours of campus and an alumni dinner. YES! We did fit all of that into three days!
For this 60th anniversary event, we had many special guests and friends join us. We were glad to host CNR’s Dean, Dr. Mary C. Watzin; CNR’s Associate Dean of Research, Dr. Marian McCord; past Dean’s Tombaugh and Ellwood; board members, alumni and many parents of current students. Additionally, we recognized the first recipients of the Phillips Family Leadership Incentive, students Patrick Leasure and Joseph McDonald; and the families of Professor RG Hitchings and Ben Chilton who both had immeasurable impacts on our program.
Bryan Robison, a current student, shared that he “enjoyed interacting with alumni and industry leaders, as well as contributing to the planning an execution of the event”. Bryan was one of several students that were on our year long planning committee.
Everyone can enjoy the event through our photo gallery and annual report.
Next year’s event will be September 16-18, 2015.
