International Association of Wildland Fire
The International Association of Wildland Fire (IAWF) is a non-profit, professional association representing members of the global wildland fire community. The purpose of the association is to facilitate communication and provide leadership for the wildland fire community. 

 

 

National Wildfire Coordinating Group
NWCG is an operational group designed to coordinate programs of the participating wildfire management agencies. 

 

 

The National Interagency Fire Center
The National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), is the nation’s support center for wildland firefighting. The NIFC website offers up-to-date information on fires nationwide, contracting, maps, news, and a daily situation report. NIFC also offers a wealth of fire prevention and fuel control information, and training and qualification information.

The Wildland Fire Leadership Council (WFLC) was established in April 2002 by the Secretaries of Agriculture and the Interior to provide an intergovernmental committee to support the implementation and coordination of Federal Fire Management Policy. A Memorandum of Understanding (PDF, 1.6 MB) was signed in April 2010 by the Secretary of the Interior, Secretary of Agriculture, and Secretary of Homeland Security to authorize the continuation of the WFLC. The Council meets regularly to provide oversight and coordination of the Federal Wildland Fire Management Policy. 

 

 

Forests and Rangelands
This website provides fire, fuels, and land management information to government officials, land and fire management professionals, businesses, communities, and other interested organizations and individuals. Particularly, the National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy (http://www.forestsandrangelands.gov/strategy/index.shtml) is a collaborative process with active involvement of all levels of government and non-governmental organizations. Fifteen listening forums were held across the nation from April through June 2010 where more than 400 participants representing federal, state, tribal, local, and non-governmental organizations discussed their concerns about land management and wildfire related risks. The input from these forums could be found on the website.

FEMA
Ready is a national public service advertising (PSA) campaign designed to educate and empower Americans to prepare for and respond to emergencies including natural and man-made disasters. Its Wildfire page provides information on how to be better prepared for a wildfire. 

 

 

Southwest Coordination Center (SWCC)
This website provides four primary components:
• Incident Information provides general information pertaining to wildland fire, agency and unit contact numbers, and other relevant information
• Logistics Operations provides operational and managerial services specific to aviation, crews, equipment and supplies, and overhead (including IMT’s). Predictive Services provides operational products and services to the wildland fire manager.
• Fire Management and Administration provides various tools in order to make fire management programs work.
