April Sharp is an Environmental Sciences student who conducted an independent research project over the summer. She used light microscopy to process and identify different pollen samples, which she then used to observe patterns of pollination spillover. Vanessa Merritt is a Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology student who spent her summer studying Hermit Thrushes. Although her original plans were canceled due to COVID-19, Vanessa was still able to work from home on a research project that follows Hermit Thrushes in the Appalachian Mountains.

She visited various landscapes across Ecuador, from the Andes mountains to the Amazon basin. Because of this, she was able to see many different species of birds.
