Sarah Baines

Sarah joined the Fire Chaser team in November 2017 as a remote member working from Saskatoon, Canada.  Her undergraduate degree in physical geography took her to the Canadian Arctic where she worked in land and water resources management in the mining sector from the perspectives of co-management regulator, proponent and consultant.  After spending over ten years in Canada’s Northwest Territories, Sarah began a Master of Environment and Sustainability at the University of Saskatchewan which will be completed in 2018.  Striving for excellence in community engaged scholarship, Sarah’s research interests focus around strengthening community resiliency. Specifically, she is interested in policy innovation, Indigenous water governance, environmental and cultural flows, and role of human wellness in surface water quantity management.   Outside of graduate school, Sarah participates in mental health and literacy organizations, and is an avid learner of the fibre arts.
